Physitrack Connect - August 2021

Dear Anna,

Greetings from sunny Finland, this time from Espoo, the neighbouring city of our beautiful capital Helsinki.

My name is Toni, and I am responsible for business development and client relations here in Finland. I have been working closely with Physiotools (owned by Physitrack) through a collaboration partner for about 6 years, and I officially joined the company two years ago.

My background is in professional volleyball, where I had the honour to represent the Finnish national team 26 times as well as multiple great clubs in Finland, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland, Austria and Cyprus. Being an athlete requires a lot of discipline and hard work, which means trying to develop your skills and strength, while keeping your most valuable tool(s) - your body & mind- healthy and ready for the next tough challenge. That obviously means a lot of work with different professionals, one of the most important being physiotherapists. With their help, I have learned to understand more about the musculoskeletal system and learned ways of preventing and treating injuries by exercising. After volleyball, in my “next career”, I studied Health Informatics (B. Eng.), and fortunately found my way to my current position.

Funny enough, about a year ago I did a short analysis of our competition globally to see what kind of solutions the rest of the market offered. One competitor stood out. I thought that company had very cool features, and a lot of these had been asked for frequently in Physiotools. This competitor was Physitrack. So you can imagine that I was more than happy to hear the news that we were going to join forces with Physitrack (Physitrack acquired Physiotools last November). Our common goal is to provide the best possible tools for our customers, so they can help their patients.

I hope that you enjoy reading this month's PT Connect,

Toni

New: Covid-19 Education to send along with your exercise programs

As we announced last month we have been working on launching Covid-19 education for your patients which are recovering from Covid-19. The education has been set up after a study run by HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Professorship Innovation in Digital Healthcare, UMC Utrecht (Utrecht University Medical Centre) and the Academic Workshop for Physiotherapy. You might have seen our exercise templates already, but as announced we also wanted that to be accompanied with education so patients can learn more about how to deal with their condition instead of 'just' receiving the exercises.

What you can expect in your library:

  • Dealing with anxiety and gloom after Covid-19;
  • Executing and maintaining your exercise plan;
  • Nutrition after Covid-19;
  • Management of energy levels after Covid-19;
  • Tips and advice after Covid-19;
  • Dealing with stress;

We will launch these Education articles at the end of this week, so can you expect to use these articles from next week onwards. To use this content, simply go to Library > Education and search for "Covid".

New imported content in the library

As you might already be aware, leading HEP solutions providers GoMobilus and Physiotools became part of the Physitrack Group at the end of last year. In addition to a great team of colleagues with years of knowledge and experience coming together, this also resulted in the opportunity to offer more valued content to you as our customer.

We are currently merging the three content libraries at a steady pace into one big Physitrack library, so that you will be able to choose from a world-leading range of exercises to assign as Physitrack videos, and also as pictures or hand drawings as required. Obviously, since we are merging content from three sources, initially you may see some content in a format you are not accustomed to. Rest assured we are taking all steps to ensure that we keep clinical content at a high-quality level, and that you can filter on different content sources.

As we go through this content transition, we really appreciate any feedback on what you like and don't like about the new library.

Print-friendly line drawings added

Although most of you work with Physitrack and assign programs digitally to your patients, we notice there is still a need to print exercise programs. That is why we are currently adding line drawings to exercise videos - print-friendly and instructive on how to perform an exercise, even without viewing the video.

You can select the exercises that already have a line drawing added by selecting the 'Print-friendly' box in the filters in the exercise library. Once you select the exercises, click print and from the pop-up select 'Show line-drawings', you will be able to print line-drawings instead of stills of the video.

We will be adding many more line drawings over the upcoming weeks and months, so stay tuned!

Content news: a glimpse of the evolving library

The content import project mentioned above is progressing rapidly and currently we have more than 1700 new exercises and 1600 printer-friendly exercises in the Physitrack library, with the number is increasing each week.

We also have two new outcome measures: HOOS-PS and KOOS-PS. These patient reported outcome measures are short forms obtained from the function sub-scales in the original KOOS and HOOS. The short forms aim to shed some light on your patients’ perception of the difficulties they experience due to their knee or hip conditions. You can learn more about the scores at http://www.koos.nu/

We have also added a new customer requested template called ‘Acute lumbar disc protocol’ as a cherry on top.

Managing the entire patient journey with your own custom patient app

We are very excited to see clinics, hospitals and occupational health groups around the world choose to develop their own custom patient apps with us. Whether used as a marketing tool to generate new business, take patient engagement to the next level or triage patients into a (Telehealth) appointment, the possible use cases are endless.

Our colleague Anna authored an article that covers everything you need to know about how the custom app looks after the entire patient journey.

"We live in a modern world. A world where technology is our daily companion, time is money, and multitasking is our second nature - but what happens when someone’s health is affected?"
